Missing Camping in Los Angeles
Posted on March 2nd, 2010 2 commentsI was working on my most current niche market site this week, and realised that I missed going camping. I never meant to not go camping anymore. It wasn’t planned or anything. It just happened! Somehow - in between learning a new business (which I do love, but still it is hard to keep learning new stuff every day), keeping up with old friends (yes it is such hard work to meet and drink wine each week), making sure I take care of myself by doing my yoga and cooking good meals for me and many of my friends, and of course keeping up with the latest episode of Heroes, who has time for camping? Well, I guess I don’t.
So here I am, looking up all this cool backbacking gear for my latest site, CheapCampingEquipment.org and I have now managed to not go camping for at least the last two years. It isn’t as if there aren’t tons of great places nearby that I have often thought, “Gee, that would be a great place to go camping”. I think it all the time. The DeAnza Borrega Desert is a beautiful place and you can just pull off the highway and camp anywhere (one of the few places in America that you can do this). I am just a short boat trip from Catalina Island, where I could bicycle across the island in no time and find some great places to camp near Two Rivers. I look at websites of this place all the time and plan to go each summer. But somehow - it never happens. I know of a great little tent I saw when working on one of my pages about cheap tents and I think I could easily bike with the backpacking gear I listed without too much trouble. I can’t quite figure out what is stopping me, since I know I love camping. Perhaps as we get older we just need a bigger incentive to get out there.
Or maybe just the thought of pitching rocks from my campsite at two in the morning no longer is the thrill it used to be. Cabins are looking better as the 60th birthday looms and perhaps that is the best reason of all to decide not to go camping.

Ways of Paying for Health Insurance
Posted on March 2nd, 2010 3 commentsWhen it comes to health insurance, many people don’t exactly know everything that there is to know about the subject. That only stands to reason, it is not something that is easily understood because of its complexity. For instance, when you visit the doctor you may be asked to pay something that is called the “co-pay”, and other times you may not have to do anything at all depending on your plan. Let’s look at some of the ways that health insurance is paid for.
Often times, your employer will sponsor your insurance and you only have to pay what is known as a “co-pay” or co payment. The co-pay is a set amount that is determined by your insurance company when you receive covered services. This is a significantly smaller fee than you would be paying without the co-pay. Many companies offer this type of payment option because it is easier on the employee to pay this way.
You may consider opening what is known as a Healthcare Savings Account (HSA). This will assure that you always have a location in which to retrieve payments for various medical expenses. The HSA is a pre-tax savings account where a portion of your pre-tax income, determined by you, is deposited into an account automatically. Since this account comes from your paycheck pre-tax, that means it will lower your overall taxable income. This means you are saving money in terms of taxes and saving lots of money towards your overall health care costs.
For certain disabled individuals and those above the age of 65, Medicare is also another way to pay for health insurance. While they will not pay all of your healthcare expenses, they will pay for most of them. Medicare, however, doesn’t cover prescription drugs and nursing homes. It is important that you check the different types of restrictions that may apply. There are low-cost prescription discount cards that have been proven to save people who require costly medications on a regular basis over 50% of what they would have been paying without any health care.
Paying for health insurance doesn’t have to be complicated as long as you understand just what is going on in terms of where you stand with your plan. Discuss any questions you may have about the plan before committing to one. While one plan may be right for many people, it does not always mean that it will fit your specific needs.

Wireless Home Security Systems
Posted on March 2nd, 2010 No commentsWith crime on the rise, wireless home security systems are a must have. With burglars becoming more and more common, you simply must protect your loved ones as well as your possessions. There are several different types of home security systems available for you to choose from. For your home, there are wired and wireless security systems available. Each one has its advantages and disadvantages, along with the differences in price as well.
The driving technology found with both wired and wireless security systems are quite different. Wireless security systems don’t need to be wired through the house; they will instead send transfer messages to the control panel through radio signals. When they were first introduced, wireless security systems were proved to be unreliable when compared to the wired systems. As time went by and more and more people looked into them, wireless systems began to take form.
When compared to wired systems, wireless security systems are a lot easier and more convenient to install due to the fact of there being no wires. Wireless systems can save you a lot of money, time, and effort due to there being no ripping of the floors or walls in your home. Wireless systems on the other hand are more expensive than wired systems and you’ll need to replace their batteries on a periodic basis. The primary advantage to wireless security systems is the fact that they are easy to relocate, meaning that you can easily shift them from one home to another.
Wireless security systems use the same components as other security systems such as the touchpad, control panel, cameras, detectors, and alarms. Wireless systems rely on radio frequencies that are transmitted by the door contacts, windows, and motion activated sensors. The touch pads that are located at the entrances to the home will provide activation and deactivation of the system. In the event of the power failing, a backup system will take over the wireless system and continue to provide security for your home.
To use a home security alarm system, all you need to do is input the code through the control panel. Normally, this is done prior to entering and leaving your home. Once the code is input into the control panel, the control panel will send remote signals to the rest of the system that will activate the alarms. Depending on the system you have, an alarm will go off either by motion detection or a window or door being opened.
If you look around you can find several different wireless security systems, many of which you can install yourself. Before you buy a system though, you should always consult a professional who can survey your home and suggest the equipment you need. Even though it may cost a bit more money, it will be more than worth it down the road.
